RTL is soon to occupy its new downtown base: the Liget Center Auditorium has received its occupancy permit

2024-06-17

The Liget Center project - developed by WING - , has reached a new milestone: the Liget Center Auditorium has received its occupancy permit; therefore, RTL Hungary is soon to move into its new downtown base next to City Park (Városliget). From this summer, the modernised building will house RTL's news directorate and studios for its news and infotainment programmes.

The building modernized for RTL's new studios is part of WING's Liget Center project, called Liget Center Auditorium. The renovation of the protected congress block of the former MÉMOSZ headquarters focused on preserving the historic monument, RTL Hungary's special technological needs and complying with ESG aspects. With the occupancy permit obtained, RTL News, the Fókusz and the Weather Report will soon be broadcast from the Liget Center.

The Liget Center Auditorium had been unused since the 1980’s and had significantly deteriorated, so WING considered it a key mission to preserve the values of this complex piece of modernist architecture and thus to create a modern and sustainable office development. The Liget Center Auditorium is unique in the local office market in Budapest, as it is more than 70-year-old  facility that has been transformed into a near-zero energy building. During its renovation, it received an "A" rating in energy efficiency and an A+ rating in CO2 emissions efficiency. Following the exemplary monument renovation and change of function, and with the occupancy permit granted, the Liget Center Auditorium will house the RTL Hungary news directorate and studios for its news and infotainment programmes from the summer of 2024. Meanwhile the commercial media company's office functions will be housed in the adjacent Liget Center Classic building. In addition, as part of the development, a brand new boutique office building, Liget Center Vitrum, will be built from the autumn, alongside the reconstruction of two listed buildings that serve as RTL's main base.

The renovation of the Liget Center Auditorium was designed by TIBA Építész Stúdió, while the general construction was carried out by WORKUP, a specialised division of FITOUT Zrt.
