2024-11-26

WING, a prominent real estate developer and investor in the Central European market, has been the recipient of significant awards in celebration of its 25th anniversary this year. At the Construction & Investment Journal (CIJ) Awards Hungary ceremony, held on 25 November at the Budapest Marriott Hotel, the company received awards in the categories Best Retail, Leisure & Hotel Upcoming Development of the Year and Best Legacy (Reconstruction) Development of the Year.

WING has achieved outstanding success at the CIJ Awards 2024.The nineteenth edition of the award ceremony was attended by the most important players in the real estate industry at the Budapest Marriott Hotel. Launched by the Construction & Investment Journal, the awards are one of the oldest professional recognitions of the region's commercial real estate industry and aim to reward the most outstanding achievements in the real estate sector. This year, WING took home awards in two categories.

In the Best Retail, Leisure & Hotel Upcoming Development of the Year category, the TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel won the Best of the Year award. The four-star TRIBE hotel, which is being developed by WING at Liszt Ferenc International Airport, next to Terminal 2, will offer 167 rooms on a floor area of 8,000 square metres, with the brand's typical services and a contemporary design concept. The new hotel will operate in direct connection with the three-star ibis Styles Budapest Airport Hotel, also opened by WING in 2018. The Tribe's expanded services will be tailored primarily for business and transit travellers, with a focus on maximum guest comfort: a spacious restaurant and lounge area on the ground floor, a 150-seat conference room, a gym on the top floor (7th floor), and a skybar will offer a superior gastronomic experience and breathtaking views. It is being developed with sustainability in mind and will be one of the first BREEAM certified hotels in Hungary. The country's largest international airport is a key location for Hungarian tourism, so the opening of TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel in 2025 will be a significant milestone for WING and the airport. The new facility will support the further expansion of the airport's service infrastructure, and WING will become a member of the select group of real estate developers that have already delivered at least 1,000 hotel rooms in Hungary.

In the Best Legacy (Reconstruction) Development of the Year category, WING won with the Liget Center project. The three buildings of the Liget Center complex are Liget Center Classic, Liget Center Auditorium and Liget Center Vitrum. The first two listed buildings, which are protected for heritage reasons, have undergone a significant transformation since their acquisition by WING, unique in the Hungarian real estate market, and have been reborn as modern, sustainable office complexes, while retaining their architectural values with stylistic features of the modernist era. Following the exemplary monument renovation and change of function, the Liget Center Auditorium houses the RTL Hungary news directorate and studios since the summer of 2024, while the adjacent Liget Center Classic building houses the office functions of the commercial media company. During the renovation, the preservation of the historic character of the building, the special technological needs of RTL Hungary, which moved into the office building, and ESG considerations were all given priority. Liget Center Vitrum, a new stand-alone boutique office building, also part of the project, reached shell&core completion at the end of October, completing the Liget Center project.
